Graduate Housing in Donaldson Brown

The Graduate Life Center at Donaldson Brown is a community tailored to support academic and professional success among graduate students. Converted from a hotel and conference center, Donaldson Brown offers a private, professional housing atmosphere that provides opportunities to interact and collaborate within the graduate community.

Renovated for the 2005-2006 academic year, Donaldson Brown houses more than 100 students. Rooms are single or double occupancy and come furnished, including a full private bath, individual room climate controls, telephone and voice mail services, and Ethernet and cable TV connections. There are laundry facilities on site, along with computer labs, reading lounges, and even an Au Bon Pain® coffee and pastry shop.

Further improvements to the residential facilities are in progress, including new carpeting and light fixtures, and plans for a centralized common area on the third floor featuring a fully furnished lounge adjacent to the laundry, mail rooms, and a kitchen complete with major appliances.

The location is ideal for graduate students. Near the heart of downtown Blacksburg , Donaldson Brown is adjacent to Newman Library, Squires Student Center , and several on-campus dining centers, and is within easy walking distance of academic buildings, athletic facilities, and many independent restaurants and retail shops. There are also bus stops nearby that transfer to destinations in Blacksburg , Christiansburg, and Roanoke , including Roanoke Regional Airport , so private transportation is not a necessity. In short, the Graduate Life Center is a place where students can reside at an exciting central location while still enjoying an independent, peaceful style of living.
